AIEA 2011-2012 REGIONAL FORUM DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JUNE 1

AIEA invites institutional members to submit a proposal to host an AIEA Regional Forum at or near their institution’s campus.

Purpose of AIEA Regional Forum
To increase the opportunities for AIEA members and other professionals from related fields to gather in organized venues to discuss and learn more about salient issues in International Education. The topic and size (number of participants) of the forum are open.

Length of AIEA Regional Forum
1-2 days

AIEA Monetary Support: Up to $3000.00
($500 of the award will be distributed after the final report has been received by AIEA.)

Funds can be used for any of the following:
• One or more meals for participants
• Meeting space (AIEA encourages cost sharing)
• Stipend/travel for outside speaker(s) if appropriate
• Subsidize hotel costs to participants

Funds may not be used to pay for salaries at host institution(s).

Registration Fees
The host institution(s) may charge a reasonable registration fee to cover costs of the meeting.

Number of Awards
AIEA will grant up to 2 awards per year to institutions from different geographical regions of the United States.

Selection Criteria
1. Saliency and Focus of the Issue/Topic.
2. Support from Host Institution(s)
3. Reasonableness of Budget and cost sharing by host institutions
4. Transparency of Selection Process of Participants

Preference will be given to host institutions in different sections/regions of the United States.

Host Institution Responsibility
1. Selection of Topic
2. Logistics: Arrange/Provide meeting space, meals, speaker(s)
3. Registration
4. Marketing
5. Provide information about hotels if the Forum requires participants to stay overnight.

AIEA Contribution
1. Financial Award of $3000
2. AIEA Endorsement
3. AIEA Publicity
4. Follow-up Thank you letters to president of host institution

Application Process (DEADLINE - JUNE 1)
1. 3-5 page proposal explaining the topic/issue of the proposed workshop and its importance to international educators. The proposal should include an outline and format of the workshop, names and titles of speaker(s), length of workshop, and proposed date.

2. Selection process of participants and maximum number.

3. CVs for the presenters/speakers

4. Detailed budget

5. Final Report: due one month after conclusion of the workshop.

AIEA accepts applications twice a year.

Selection Information
If applicants are not chosen for an award and are still interested in hosting an AIEA Forum without funding, they may ask AIEA to present their request to the committee. AIEA affiliation cannot be claimed unless an institution submits a proposal and it is reviewed and approved by the selection committee.
