2017-18 AIEA Presidential Mentors

Donald Filer is Executive Director of the Office of International Affairs at Yale University, which provides administrative support for international activities of the schools, programs, and individual faculty across the university. These efforts include developing new projects with partner universities and safeguarding Yale’s reputation. Previously, Filer served in a number of capacities at Connecticut College, including Vice President for Community and Public Affairs, Secretary of the College, and Acting Vice President for Development.  

Gil Latz Headshot Gil Latz is Professor of Geography, Philanthropy, and Associate Vice Chancellor for International Affairs, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis; and Associate Vice President for International Affairs, Indiana University.  His comparative regional development policy research includes affiliation with Tokyo University (Japan) and University of Florence (Italy). Recent publications: assessing international learning (US); landscape history (Italy/US); civil society leadership (Japan); and transnational regional development (Asia).  He serves as AIEA Past President, 2017-18; and Senior Associate for Internationalization, ACE.
Bailian Li Bailian Li is Senior Vice Provost for Global Engagement at NC State University. He provides leadership for the University’s overall mission of global engagement in research, education, and economic development and leads the development and implementation of the strategic plan to strengthen NC State's global presence. He is active in AIEA, NAFSA and APLU international commission. He has extensive experience in developing effective international partnerships for student mobility, faculty research and joint academic programs.
